WHAT TO DO WHEN FACING CHALLENGES

We are not dealing with circumstances that occurred 2,000 years ago. We are dealing with issues relating to circumstances we meet right now in our world of reality today (“pandemic/Social unrest”).  We must realize, however that as long as we are here on earth Satan will challenge our authority at every turn through every means he can. This often means that he will use other people, often even our loved ones, to bombard us with the negative forces of unbelief and render us powerless to do the works of God.

When Jairus and Jesus stepped into Jairus’s house, they ran headlong into the same condition you will encounter often as you do the works of God: They were met by “professional mourners.” The mourners were weeping and wailing greatly: 38 And He cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult (commotion, turmoil, confusion), and them that wept and wailed greatly. Mark 5:38.

When Jairus walked in, he had to face these people. The first thing they said to him was, “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself? You trusted in this Healer called Jesus. You went running after the Healer, and now look what has happened to you! This is what you get from trusting this Healer. Your daughter is dead.”  Jesus was there on the scene with a very positive statement of victory. He declared boldly to them all: 39 And when He was come in, He saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. Mark 5:39.

The mourners laughed at Jesus when He said, “The child is not dead but asleep.” The girl was dead, but Jesus used the image of sleep to indicate that her condition was temporary and that she would be restored. His declaration elicited (drew, obtained, bring out) a very negative reaction from these professional mourners, for the Bible says that then: 40 And they laughed Him to scorn. But when He had put them all out, He taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with Him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. Mark 5:40. Paul said:

Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

~Phil. 4:6
