WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU USE GOD’S WISDOM
The Wisdom of God often requires us to do that which is opposite of our natural inclinations. The Wisdom of God goes against the “conventional (traditional) wisdom” of the day; it is not focused on self-preservation (survival, self-protection) but on furthering the Kingdom of God. We can only use God’s Wisdom when we are committed to crucifying our flesh and living in the Spirit (It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Gal. 2:20
Do not let Mercy (compassion, forgiveness, sympathy) and Kindness (thoughtfulness, consideration) and Truth (reality, dedication, honesty, sincerity) leave you [instead let these qualities define (describe, explain, identify) you]; Bind (attach, connect, fasten, constrain) them [securely] around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart. Prov. 3:3 “Thoughts and words are not enough—our lives reveal whether we are truly loving and faithful. Do your actions measure up to your attitudes?”
The Wisdom of God is, of course, from God and honors God. God’s wisdom starts with the fear of God and results in a Holy life. The wisdom of the world, on the other hand, is not concerned with honoring God but with pleasing oneself. With the wisdom of the world, we may become educated, street-smart, and have “common sense” that enables us to play the world’s game successfully. The Wisdom of God enables us to prepare ourselves for eternity. With the Wisdom of God, we trade earthly values for Biblical values (1 John 2:15-16). We recognize we are citizens of another kingdom, the Kingdom of God, and we make choices that reflect that allegiance.
But [we are different, because] our citizenship is in heaven. And from there we eagerly await [the coming of] the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
