WHAT DECISION HAVE YOU MADE
Was your decision based upon the decision God made for you? Do you stand on it by Faith? Or do you put your Trust in man? But God knows what is best for us. He is a better judge of what we want than even we are! We must trust Him completely in every choice we make. We must not be wise in our own eyes. Bring your decisions to God in prayer; use the Bible as your guide; and then follow God’s leading. 5 Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart; And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. 6 In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. Prov. 3:5-6
To receive God’s guidance, Solomon says: we must acknowledge God in all our ways. This means turning every area of life over to Him. About a thousand years later, Jesus emphasized this same truth (33 But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. Matt. 6:33). Look at your values (standards, morals, beliefs) and priorities (main concern). What is important to you? In what areas have you not acknowledged Him? What is His advice?
God’s love is not static (unchanging, motionless, still) or self-centered; it reaches out and draws others in. Here God sets the pattern of true love, the basis for all love relationships—when you love someone dearly, you are willing to give freely to the point of self-sacrifice. God paid dearly with the life of His Son, the highest price for our sins, and then offered us the new life that He had bought for us. When we share the gospel with others, our love must be like Jesus’—willingly giving up our own comfort and security so that others might join us in receiving God’s love. 16 “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] Only Begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
God promises great blessings to His people, but many of these blessings require active participation. He will deliver us from fear, save us out of our troubles, guard and deliver us, show us goodness, supply our needs, listen when we talk to Him, and redeem us, but we must do our part. We can appropriate (take, assume, seize) His blessings when we seek Him, cry out to Him, trust Him, fear Him, refrain from lying, turn from evil, do good and seek peace, are humble, and serve Him.
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
