TO PRODUCE A HARVEST A SEED MUST DIE
Christ’s life was a precious seed. He sowed it to produce a great spiritual harvest! His life was like the kernel of wheat that is placed into the ground and dies. Through His death came resurrection and eternal life. By giving His life, He reaped innumerable souls into the Kingdom of God.
Your life is a seed that you can sow. Only as you are willing to give it away, by dying to self, will you gain it. Your life will not produce a harvest until you give it away. As you give your life, for Christ’s sake by planting seeds of love, faithfulness, obedience, and commitment into the Kingdom of God, you will reap a great harvest. 26 If any man serve Me, let him follow Me: and where I AM, there shall also My servant be: if any man serve Me, him will My Father honour. John 12:26
Jesus taught the principle of gaining through giving. He taught that in order for us to really live, we must be willing to give our lives away. 39 He that findeth his life shall lose it, and he that loseth his life for My sake shall find it. Matt. 10:39. Jesus said that if a person clings to their life in this world, they will lose it, but if they give their life, for His sake, they will truly live and inherit eternal life. 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests] and take up his cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me]. Matt. 16:24
Jesus revealed another important key to reaping the spiritual harvest. A seed cannot produce anything until it is first sown into the ground and dies. The potential is within it to produce a harvest, but it lies dormant until it is sown into the soil.
He that loveth his life shall lose it, and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
