The Secret Of Contentment In All Circumstances

The Secret Of Contentment In All Circumstances

Paul learned the secret of being content in every situation, whether living in plenty or in want. He was not looking to a person to meet his needs. He was looking to God, his true Source. Because he knew that God was his Source, he was able to look at his circumstances, and say… I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Phil. 4:13

Paul knew that he was not going to be defeated because he was able to draw from his Source for the strength to overcome. He told the Philippians: 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19. He did not say some but ALL. Whatever need you may have is included in the word all.

Christians today may claim this verse but will not see the manifestation of it in their lives because they are not freely and willingly giving to God first. Think about how foolish it would be for a farmer to go into his fields every day and expect to reap a harvest if he had never planted a seed.

This promise was given to the Philippians. They were the first to give a sacrificial offering to meet Paul’s needs while he was in prison. What they had given to Paul, they had given to God. Not only did God see their sacrifice, but their offering ascended into heaven as…

But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God.

~Phil. 4:18
