OUR GOD – THE GIVER THAT NEVER STOPS GIVING

OUR GOD - THE GIVER THAT NEVER STOPS GIVING

The Bible begins with the account of God’s gift of creation. Genesis opens with a marvelous description of our world’s origin. He is the Creator. Timeless words introduce us to our God:

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

~Gen. 1:1

People can fall into the trap of assuming that God’s creative work ended in Eden. God’s extravagant giving in creation is continuous. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.  His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. We are drawing very near to God’s final creative act. Each day brings us closer to the promise of God to make all things new. 5 And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. Rev. 21:5.

We have already seen that the Bible begins with God promising to give life to men and women. The Bible ends with God guaranteeing yet another free gift—the water of eternal life. Truly our Creator is the great, non-stop Giver. 6 And He said unto me, it is done. I AM Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. Rev. 21:6.

God doesn’t restrict His love and giving to those who deserve it, to those who’ve earned it, or to those who might give something to Him in return. In fact, God is so rich in mercy that the Bible describes Him as being full of mercy (merciful). Mercy dominates and characterizes all of God’s activities.

God is our standard. Christ is our example. Calvary is our pattern. Our Creator-Redeemer has given every thing for us. Let us—out of gratitude for what we have received from Him—now become givers, like Him. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
